Why a written plan works

Turnout research going back decades finds that a voter who names when they will vote, how they will get there, and what they will be doing beforehand is more likely to go than one who only gets a reminder.

It turns a vague intention into a scheduled errand. That is the whole trick.

Make the plan anyway — then read same-day registration. In Michigan you can register in person at your clerk's office right through 8 p.m. on Election Day and vote on the spot.
