Privacy
What we collect, and what we don't
A voter checking a deadline should not have to think about this. So we built the site to collect as little as possible.
The short version
- We do not use advertising trackers, third-party analytics, or social pixels on this site.
- We do not load fonts, scripts, or images from other companies' servers, so browsing here is not reported to anyone else.
- We only get personal information if you type it into a form and submit it.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
- You can ask us to delete everything we have about you, and we will.
What the site collects on its own
Nothing that identifies you. There are no cookies set by this site, no analytics scripts, and no third-party embeds. Our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs — including IP addresses — as part of delivering the site and protecting it from attack. We do not use those logs to build profiles of visitors.
What you give us voluntarily
Only through the two forms on this site:
- Voting plan — your name, email, optionally your mobile number, your city or township, and the voting method and day you chose. We use it to send you your plan and a reminder before your chosen day.
- Canvasser application — your name, email, phone, city, ZIP code, the work and hours you're after, your availability, how you'd get to turf, any languages, any notes, and your confirmation that you're 18 and authorized to work in the U.S. This is a job application, so we use it to hire you and get you onto shifts, and we keep it as an employment record. We do not ask for your Social Security number, date of birth, or any document images on this form — that happens later, on paper, if you're hired.
That is the whole list. We do not ask for your date of birth, your driver's license number, your party, or your Social Security number, and you should be suspicious of any get-out-the-vote site that does.
We never ask for, or receive, how you voted
Which candidates you choose is secret and stays that way. Choosing a method and a day on our plan form is not a vote and is not connected to your ballot. Nothing you tell us reaches an election official, and nothing an election official has about you comes to us.
Text messages
We only text you if you check the box asking us to. You can stop at any time by replying STOP; reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. We do not share your phone number with anyone for their own marketing, and consent to texts is never a condition of anything else on this site.
Who else touches your data
Only service providers we need to operate, and only for that purpose:
- Netlify — hosts the site and stores form submissions.
That is currently the whole list. We have not connected an email platform, an SMS provider, or a CRM, and until we do, anything you submit sits in Netlify and goes nowhere else. If that changes we will name the provider here before we start using it.
We do not give your information to candidates, campaigns, parties, PACs, data brokers, or advertisers.
How long we keep it
Contact information from the voting-plan form is deleted at the end of the 2026 election cycle — December 31, 2026 — unless you have asked to keep hearing from us. Canvasser applications are kept as employment records for as long as the law requires, and longer only if you are hired.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from email using the link in any message we send.
- Stop texts by replying STOP.
- Ask us what we have about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing privacy@voteforchangemi.com.
Children
This site is for people who can register to vote — in Michigan, 17½ and up. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes
If we change what we collect, we will update this page and change the date below. Material changes get a notice on the home page.
