Why a written plan works

This is not a gimmick. Turnout research going back decades finds that getting a voter to specify when they will vote, how they will get there, and what they will be doing beforehand raises the odds they actually go — more than a reminder alone does.

It works because it converts a vague intention into a scheduled errand. That is the whole trick.
